My first sewing class is completed!

Today my girls finished up their shell tops. They now have a top and bottom to wear. We had a LONG class. From 10AM to close to 4PM, but it was worth it to have their tops completed. Both mom's were pleased enough to ask for me to "repeat" my business, one mom by signing up for a future adult class as she realized that her daughter has other interest at this point, and the other mom making sure that I have her phone number to contact her for future classes for her daughter. I have an additional waiting list of adults wanting to take sewing classes so I've decided in 3 weeks to start one. I change format for the adult class in a few areas:
  1. Costs will be for one class/session vs. a series of sessions
  2. I will have it onging so that at the end of each class session an item is competed
  3. As classes continue the project becomes harder.
  4. I will pick simpler projects, possibly without true pattern pieces/papers at first
  5. I will probably offer "makeups/extra instruction" at an hourly rate. If someone wants to have extra time they can pay for my time to get it within reason.
I think that I will offer basic knitting and crochet classes as well once I get the sewing classes underway. I think that they could be fun and after we've covered some basics we can delve into more involved projects.
This class was hard work and future ones will be as well, but I think that this is something I need to stick with and who knows. . . It may become less "work" with time!
