I have a heel! Posted by Hello

A day of firsts

Yesterday I got my first set of dpns and started my first pair of socks. . . I had written a longer entry but when I tried to spell check it disappeared. I'll give more updates later but for now I'll just say that I'm using Bernat Sox yarn in Hot Tamale. It knits up into stripes like LB magic stripes. I bought 2 balls but I am making ankle socks so I may only need one. So far I have made my ribbing and am working on the part before the ankle starts.
I don't like dpns. I like magic loop with circs better. This seems really akward but I am getting the hang of it. It keeps feeling like my work is going to slip off the back of the dpns though.
I'm going to try to add some pictures later of this work in progress.

Second Crochet purse

This one I whipped up on a trip to Myrtle Beach. It's also LB Chenille, but has Coats and Clark Eyelash yarn for the trim. It's really cute and fun. It is also one piece. It has no closure but the eyelash yarn crocheted tighter so it naturally made the bag decrease in size at the top. I haven't carried it yet as I've been wearing more warm tones lately. The handles are also shorter than my first bag. Posted by Hello

First Crochet Purse

This is my first attempt at a crochet purse and I LOVE THIS PURSE. My Tara Boone little purse was starting to show wear so I needed another purse. I wanted to make one of wool and felt it but decided when I had this LB Chenille yarn that I'd try to make one from this. I used sc and just designed it as I went. It's one long piece, rather than pieced together, even the toggle loop and handles. I need to sew a lining so that my keys don't poke through, but othewise it's very dense and nothing else gets lost. You can see in the upper right corner my famous nappy bag. Yes though I am the queen of bags and shoes I still carry the nappy bag. Were it just another diaper bag I would have abandonded it by now. Amy Butler Nappy Bag

I love this diaper bag. It was really fun to make and has become my favorite diaper bag for day outings. It has a coordinating change pad, and multiple interior pockets. It has inspired me to design my own bag pattern again. I made my own once but it was much larger and not nearly as cute. Posted by Hello

My 2 Ray Boys

Here Mardie and Charmie sit watching Clifford, or as Charmie says, Pi'pard wearing wool. Mardie has on a hand crochet Tickle Turdle crochet wrap wool cover with a snappi fastener. I made it from Cascade 220. Charmie has on his Down Under triangle soaker with lizzard embelishments from various wool scraps. The body is from LB fishermans wool.

Mardie in his Soaker Pants

Here is my first pair of hand knitted soaker pants. I used Patons Merino Wool and knitted the pants top down on circulars. I used the magic loop method for the legs because I don't have any dpns. I didn't leave any extra room in the crotch so I had a hole where the two legs separated. I made a tiny little patch about 5st wide and 10rows I sewed it over the hole. Next pair of pants i'll leave some stitches to form the crotch and probably kitchener st them together. . .I also need to add a waist band drawstring cause these pants definitely have room for M to grow. A chance to revisit my blog

Image hosted by Photobucket.comIt's after 4am again! I seem to be drawn to posting at this hour. I finished the pants and they ended up being for Mardie who was born September 11, 2004. So much has happened since I posted this first blog entry. I've made many more projects. I've knitted most of a sweater for Charmie from Debbie Bliss's baby knits for beginners. I've knitted a triangle soaker with ribbed legs for Mardie. I have also crocheted several purses, knitted some scarves and sewn a few items too, including the Amy Butler Nappy Bag diaper bag! I'm really enjoying crafting for my needs these days.Oh yeah, I got a knitting machine for Christmaas thought I haven't completed any projects on it yet. . . I've made a few rectangles for practice but have yet to make anything more, and my mil got me this cool program Instant Stitch that aids in generating patterns for needle work. I have so many projects that I want to do and several that are started. I'm going to have get to seriously documenting this stuff, so far I've just been taking pics of my completed projects.
